Jewelry care
Sterling silver is an alloyed metal consisting of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals. These additional metals can react with moisture and sulfur in the air, leading to tarnishing, particularly in warmer or more humid environments.
Luckily, all of our jewelry is made with the highest quality recycled sterling silver, making it less likely to tarnish and easier to clean if it does happen.
Remember, the main way to prevent your jewelry from tarnishing is minimizing exposure to factors that cause it.
Here are some tips to prevent tarnish:
Keep It Dry: Although our jewelry is sweat and water resistant, try avoiding exposing your jewelry to excessive moisture. If you go swimming, dry it immediately after. Also, depending on the acidity of your sweat, it is best if you avoid working out with your jewelry on.
Store Properly: Use our recycled plastic baggies and cans for storage. Keep jewelry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Limit Exposure to Chemicals: Keep your jewelry away from household cleaners, perfumes, and lotions, which can accelerate tarnishing.
Regular Cleaning: Clean your pieces regularly with your polish cloth to remove oils and dirt.
Wear It Often: Surprisngly, wearing your silver jewelry can help keep it tarnish-free, as body oils can create a protective layer.
